NOTE: The IP Routing form is not applicable to MiVoice Business for Industry Standard Servers (ISS).
The IP Routing form allows you to configure some of the routing capabilities available on the CXi II and MXe III.
Both controllers support the router portion of the ICMP Router Discovery Protocol ( IRDP) as described in RFC-1256. This means that when IRDP is enabled on the CXi II, "Router Advertisements" will be transmitted onto the LAN. These "Router Advertisements" announce to any hosts on the LAN that the controller is a router and identify the IP address of the controller. The controller transmits "Router Advertisements" on a periodic basis. It also transmits a "Router Advertisement" if a "Router Solicitation" is received from a host.
The form also lists routes to destination networks on the LAN. When the controller receives a packet from a host on the LAN, it checks the table. If a route is found, the controller forwards the packet to the system Gateway, which is either the controller itself (that is, when the System gateway IP address = the L2 Switch IP address) or a router connected to the local subnet. If no route is found, the controller forwards the packet to the internet through its WAN interface. If the system is configured as the Internet Gateway, there will be a default route to the external gateway on the WAN Ethernet interface. The maximum number of Static Routes in the Network List is twenty (20).
Use this form when performing the following tasks:
Only hosts that support IRDP can make use of Router Advertisements. At the present time, MiVoice IP Phones are not IRDP capable.
If there is an external router present on the LAN, disable Router Discovery on the controller.

ICMP Router Discovery Server |
Select Disabled to disable ICMP Router Discovery Protocol on the CXi II or MXe III. When it is enabled, the CXi II will periodically transmit Router Advertisements onto the network. |

Gateway IP |
System-generated, protected field. Specifies the destination Gateway IP address on the LAN for all packets destined for networks in the IP Network List. The Gateway IP address can be configured in the System IP Properties form. NOTE: The Gateway IP field is labeled "Next Hop" in the Export file and in the Import Spreadsheet. |
